Sem Lockdown, Day 21
Akira lay in her camp bed reading, but her mind was distracted. As Sem now entered its fourth and final week of lockdown, she couldn't keep her mind off what she was going to do once she was allowed her freedom back.
She was very much dedicated to her job but, like the others on her team, she was also very dedicated to her family and looked forward to seeing them again. She had friends living in Piscanturia whom she missed as well and she longed to be able to go fishing at the weekend with them soon. She missed the way of life there, everything felt so tightly packed along the coastline of Simul Santu, it was like everything had been squashed.
Then again though, she thought, the Rising Star Battalion hadn't yet been on its first space mission and the way in which they'd coped with the lockdown situation had been pretty practical and well-managed. She felt very comfortable in the team's future.
Satisfied with that, she managed to re-invest in the story and focus her concentration again.

"Good evening, fellow citizens, and congratulations on making it through three weeks of lockdown. As we head towards the end of our month-long lockdown now, I hope you continue to follow our advice and keep safe.
Thank you very much for staying with us so far and being so co-operative in your efforts. I hope we all come out of this and stay as strong and united as we can when we're on the other side of this crisis.
Here's Kain with this evening's news updates."

"Good evening , planet Sem. Hope all is well with you.
Farmers in Secat and farmers and fishers in Piscanturia came to a mutual understanding with military officials today. This means that farms which closed due to bad weather will re-open, although some members of the supply chain in Piscanturia have offered to continue to work extra hours in the event their additional support is necessary. Basically, there will be no need to worry about a major food shortage, though some ingredients may be in low supply.
In cheese-testing news, the young team have been tested randomly for crāpulavirus and all members, bar one, texted positive and admitted to joining in the same late night party against military rules, which has placed them and their superiors in a lot of controversy. However, the cheese analyst who hasn't contracted the virus has declared that the small rodents appear to remain alive and healthy, which bodes well for the overall analysis of the cheese. She says she is eager to continue her research on her own, though she now has other duties to fulfill as well.
Some of you asked whether or not anything would come of the message from the leader of our neighbours yesterday. The answer to that is yet unknown, but I assume we will be communicating with them about this virus outbreak either before or after lockdown is over.
That's all from me this evening, Here's Miles with today's medical updates."

"Good evening to you all.
There's nothing much to report this evening, but military officials have said today that the data analysis has been explored enough that negotiations are due to come to a close either tomorrow or the day after that. That means the Supreme Leader will be joining us during our daily broadcast tomorrow to lay out the strategy that will be imposed for the end of lockdown.
Apart from there, please continue to remain indoors unless for essential reasons, maintain a good level of hygiene and keep music turned off after nightfall. I shall now pass over for the weather report. Will it be less stormy tomorrow, Akira?"
******
"Good evening, Sem.
Yes and no, Miles. Secat will see the effects of Storm Eleanor wear off overnight but Storm François, though it will be milder, is on its way. This means Secat will be cloudy and cold tomorrow with a temperature of about 5 degrees centigrade. Simul Santu will be a little bit warmer and sunnier with a temperature of 9 degrees centigrade while Piscanturia experiences a few showery spells and a temperature of 19 degrees centigrade.
The storm continues to brew in the West Pole, while conditions at the North and South are staying a touch milder.
That's all from me tonight. Back to you, Captain."

"Thank you, Akira, and thank you all for your continued attention and co-operation. Here's a song from our weather reporter and navigator herself.
Goodnight, fellow citizens."
