Sem Lockdown, Day 15
Tristan Kearney woke up to a peaceful feeling, realising he'd somehow managed to find a comfortable position on the springy camp bed.
His mind had been at rest ever since they'd received the praise from the Commanding Officer. He knew that it shouldn't matter to him whether he approved or not, so long as he stuck to what was right, but it really meant a lot to him that he and his team were excelling in their roles. It gave him hope that, when they got out of this situation and were able to go back to their ordinary lives, they'd cope just fine.
He opened the blinds and looked out his window, gazing out at the sky. His team, while they'd been through a lot of training together, had yet to go on an actual, official space mission. He was really looking forward to it.
Calm and ready, he got dressed and immediately set to writing his script for the day, thinking of an optimistic message for his fellow citizens.

"Good evening, fellow citizens. That's us now more than halfway through our lockdown. That's pretty neat.
Some of you are worried about what will happen afterwards. Rest assured, I received word today that our officials are doing all they can to ensure that businesses will cope with absences related to crāpulavirus just fine. There's no need to panic about the future, if any problems do come up, you can guarantee that we'll do our very best to help you with them. When the time comes, you'll only need to focus on returning to your normal life. It's likely some measures will remain in place, but we'll inform you of those closer to the end date.
Here's Kain with today's news update."
"Good evening planet Sem.
There's a lot for me to report tonight, so I've left everything crāpulavirus-related to Miles.
First of all, as the Pasqual traditions begin to draw to a close, I'd like to say congratulations to Vicky Kim who has won our competition for the funniest suggestion for a military float. Her idea was to have a theme of isolation, done in a musical fashion with all the soldiers dressed up in costumes, looking through windows and singing about their loves far away.
Personally, I quite liked the idea of having soldiers just going past and singing to cheer people up, but our overall Supreme Leader, Sir Leonty Hershall, requested to see the suggestions and that's what he preferred. Cue some outrageous outfits and horrendous joyful singing, Sem, because it's going to be a hell of ride.
The float procession will take place tomorrow afternoon with other themes including food and healthy eating, spacetravel and the importance of family and successful businesses. Some messages from our sponsors will be on the side of certain floats as consolation for them not being able to participate this year.
Today, there was an update on the question of whether or not the Sterculian cheese should be analysed for foul play. Officials have reached an agreement that the cheese should be analysed to check that it's fit for consumption before it goes on the market. The controversial deliveries will be sent to laboratories tomorrow, though our leading scientists and researchers have said they are treating the study of crāpulavirius cases as a top priority. The cheese will be analysed as soon as possible.
That's all from me. Here's Miles with tonight's health updates."
"Thank you, Kain, and good evening to you all.
I'm sorry to report that a few late night parties had to be stopped yesterday and that the amount of cases is expected to rise. We really don't want to have to arrest people, and that's exactly what we had to do yesterday.
There are always those who will flout such measures as those we have imposed but, please, just keep following them for the next two weeks. This way we can stop the spread of the virus from spiralling out of control. You'll be able to play music late at night again soon, please just refrain from doing so for the time being.
Our leading scientists have requested that we send them the used swab tests so they can pull more effective data from them. Currently, they are only able to analyse the locations of spread and the age groups of people who are affected. They say it will be easier to track more about the virus spread if they can study the actual tests.
As of tomorrow morning, soldiers will send out new hypoallergenic packets and containers. Please put your used swabs in the packets, put them in the containers and leave them on your doorsteps. Soldiers will pick up packets of used swabs in the containers from 1700 hours everyday. From now on, if you use a test, the military will expect to find a packet in the containers on your doorstep everytime you home test.
We understand that some of you may see this as a breach of privacy. We sympathise with you on this, but we assure you that this is the best option for everyone at this current time. If you do have any concerns, you can send them to the appropriate military officials through the army's website, there's an alphalink to it on our own website.
That's everything on my agenda. Here's Akira with the weather."

"Good evening, Sem.
One of you asked when the weather in Secat would get drier. That all depends on when Moon Greg changes position, which should be in about a month's time.
Tomorrow though, the country will remain wet with a temperature of 5 degrees centigrade, except in the North where the snow from the North Pole is set to make landfall. Simul Santu will be mostly fine and dry with an increased temperature of 11 degrees centigrade. Piscanturia will be a bit warmer with a continued temperature of 20 degrees centigrade. The South and West Poles will remain dry.
Back to you, Captain."

"Thank you, Akira.
Keep your heads up, people of Sem, we'll be through this soon. And please don't play music late at night.
Thank you as always for your continued attention and co-operation. Here's a song from Kain, a performance done by some soldiers keeping their spirits up.
Goodnight, fellow citizens."
